Upcoming Events

Thursday, October 5, 7:00-8:30 p.m.

St. Denis Church Basement

It is never too early to begin planning for burial as we know we all will die.  Planning ahead is a burden removed from our survivors.  Members of the bereavement committee, Father Jim Duell and representatives from local funeral homes will be present to talk about how to plan your funeral Mass, the benefits of pre-planning, what to expect when you meet with funeral home staff, and the Church’s position on cremation.  We will look at what is acceptable music and readings at Mass of Christian burial.  We will answer questions about burial in a Catholic cemetery and other kinds of questions you may have.

On Sunday, October 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles, we will celebrate the efforts that both the Catholic and Lutheran traditions have made towards unity and give thanks.  We also want to remember the pain of the past 500 years and the division that has kept us apart.  Join us at 2:00 pm. We need people who are interested in participating in the service.  Contact Jane Pierron if you are able to help.

Thursday, November 16, 7:00-8:30 pm

St. Denis Church Basement

Your spouse, parent or child is terminally ill.  You have to make decisions about nutrition, hydration, life-support, etc.  How do you know what is the right choice?  How do you make the right choice?  How do we prepare now for the hour of our death?   Father Ken Overberg, SJ will talk to us about the Catholic Church position on these end of life concerns as well as euthanasia, assisted suicide, medical directives, etc.
